When can my family join YLA? |
A: |
YLA is built to support homeschool families with youth ages 12 and older. When you have a youth age 12-18 who is homeschooling you can apply for membership in Youth Leaders for America. A youth who turns 12 during the semseter in which they attend classes is allowed to apply for YLA. |

What does is cost to be a member of YLA? |
A: |
Families pay a once a year membership fee. This changes based on the amount of families and the needs of the community. For 2026-2027 the membership fee is $100 per family. In addition to membership fees, each family will pay their individual Class Fees for each of their student's classes. Class fees may range from $10 to $300 per semester. Full year classes are paid per semester. Prices listed on the class schedule is the cost for that semester. |

What if I cannot afford to pay all my fees? |

For those who woud like assistance in paying their fees, Utah has a few funding options for homeschool families. Those options are OpenEd, Harmony, and Utah Fits All Scholarship. YLA does not deal with these groups directly, but many of our families receive reimbursement through these groups for YLA classes. |

Why can't families with kids under 12 join YLA? |
A: |
For several reasons, YLA cannot accomodate families who do not have a scholar age student 12 and older. One is a space issue. If we allow all families of all ages to come, we would not have room for the large amount of junior students that desire to attend. Younger ages require a lot more time and energy to manage. This is where burn out happens quickly in homeschool co-ops and groups tend to get bottom heavy rather quickly. Families who are looking forward to joining YLA are invited to read, "A Thomas Jefferson Education" by Oliver Demille to catch a vision of what YLA is all about and how they can prepare by providing their studeents with a wonderful Core and Love of Learning phase to prepare them to become Scholars at YLA in the future. |

Is YLA an LDS only group? |

No. YLA is a non-denominational community and we uphold traditional Judeo/Christian values. At YLA we pray together, we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, and we speak of Christ. Members of YLA typically come from a Christian background, but vary in their individual religious affiliations, views and standards. We encourage members to treat one another with love and respect. Using community relationships to convert or pressure others in political or religious views is not acceptable. YLA respectfully welcomes families of all faiths and backgrounds to join in our common educational pursuits. Classes are taught from a Christian perspective and worldview. No religion or specific religion is required to attend, as long as the family and youth are comitted to maintaining traditional Judeo/Christian standards while attending YLA Scholar Day and events. |

Is YLA a Non Profit Organization? |

YLA is a Private Member Community (PMC). We also have a Utah Not for Profit Organization that was organized to run the "business" of YLA (take money, keep a bank account, do taxes etc...). Both the PMC and the Not for Profit Utah Corporation are run by the same Bylaws and the same volunteer Board of Directors. We do not have a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, but we are a NOT FOR PROFIT Coporation in Utah. |

When and where does YLA meet? |

Our Scholar Day (classes) are offered on Wednesdays throughout the school year in central Cache Valley. Specifics will be provided once membership is confirmed. We also host several activities for our members throughout the year in various locations throughout the valley. We have a calendar of events on our website for members. |

What is your Refund Policy? |

The yearly membership fee is non-refundable.Last day for full refunds of class fees:
